Hard Work, or Hardly working…

Quotation + Question = Questation. When we are on a quest to discover ourselves, it is imperative that we seek wisdom and we ask questions. Every Monday I pose a Questation, using quotes from the wise to help us ask the hard questions of ourselves. I Would love it if you share your answers. You can share them here in the comments or on the facebook page. Are you ready for your Quest?

Talent in cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work. -Stephen King

The reason a lot of people do not recognize opportunity is because it usually goes around wearing overalls looking like hard work. Thomas A. Edison

Being out of work has made me think of work…A lot. What the perception is.

“Bleed to Succeed”

“It’s not supposed to be fun that’s why they call it work” (I have never gotten this one, it always prompts a, but why from me)

“Most people work to get through the week so they can enjoy the weekend”

So basically the message is hurt yourself, ignore the pain and trade most of your time for a fraction of the time. I don’t know about you but if someone said give me seven dollars and I’ll give you 2 back to spend on whatever you want, I would say no deal. That is what the work through the week to the weekend thing feels like to me.

Laziness is not a problem I have…so this is not what I am talking about. I am talking about my time, being my time. Even the wise men above I question how people take it. Knowing the sources I realize Mr. Edison and Mr. King are saying know what you want and be willing to do anything to get there.

This is very different from Suck it up, do what you are told and you get the shiny carrot of a weekend or a day off. In the meantime don’t be surprised if you develop health problems and are even more stuck in your job because need the health insurance.

Wheel spins run hamster, run.

Listen I am in a horrible monetary position right now…and yet I am happier than I have been in a long time because I am using all this time to create great things and I don’t want to give it up. So I am not going to. I am going to have 7 days of shiny, not to say I won’t work my tail off, but working it off towards passion and not toward a measly two days.

So I challenge the staus quo and think we should no longer use the four letter word ‘WORK’ if you have name suggestions feel free to share them.

I think we can come up with something much better to do with our time than work.

In radiant love and sparkling light,
